Brandon Marshall contributing early in Miami

Down in Miami at the NFL All-Star game it is tied up 17-17 at hafltime. Brandon Marshall caught a touchdown pass from Matt Schaub in the first quarter. A few minutes later in a sideline interview the report asked him if he would like Houston as his next team. In reply to that question Marshall stated: "Well ya know, the Texans are known as Denver South. But no, I started my career in Denver, and I would like to finish it there." All Bronco fans wish they could believe those words, but it's hard to believe anything said by a Broncos these days. The second half of the Pro Bowl is coming up, tune in here.

Celebrating 50 Years Of Bronco Football, Fact #49

In 1985 the Broncos went 11-5 and missed the playoffs, conversely the Browns went 8-8 and made the playoffs winning their division.

We were
originally going to do 50 fun facts throughout the Broncos 50th season, but we fell behind, and the Broncos didn't make the playoffs. We only made it to about 39 facts, so over the next few days we'll be catching up.

Don Martindale Promoted to DC

Josh McDaniels has promoted Don Martindale as the teams new Defensive Cordinator. The position was vacated after Mike Nolan left for Miami. Linebacker Andra Davis has already stated that he would love to have Don as the new DC. Martindale has spent time with the Raiders, and was the Broncos LB coach this past season.

After Dan Pees went to the Ravens this was all predicted to happen, now it's official.

Pro Bowl Predicament - Elvis Dumervil

In 2009 Mike Nolan brought the 3-4 defense to the Broncos, and moved Elvis Dumervil to Outside Linebacker. Up till that point in his career, Doom had played defensive end his whole life. It was a big change for Elvis, but he adjusted and thrived in the 3-4, as a pass rusher. Dumervil made the Pro Bowl for the first time after leading the NFL in sacks. But come Sunday in Miami, #92 won't be getting any sacks. The Pro Bowl has a few different rules such as; You must have a Tight End in every formation, you can't have trips WR sets, and you must play a 4-3 defense. The biggest killer -- you can't blitz. It is a rule that makes sense, it would be pointless for a Quarterback to get hurt in a "pointless" game. On NFL.com Dumervil is one of the "Three players to watch" come game day. But fans might be disappointed. Elvis has always been a pure pass rusher, and although he can play pass coverage and help in run support, he is not an all-around LB. The AFC's coach is Norv Turner, I'd suggest to him rotating Dumervil with Kyle Vanden Bosch at Defensive End. Bosch sacked the QB 14 times less than Doom this year, and it's just the Pro Bowl.

I'm probably making too big a deal over this because I've been a huge Dumervil fan since he was a rookie. It just seems sad to me that a player who made the Pro Bowl as a sack master won't get the chance to get any sacks in the Pro Bowl.

Top 5 Bronco's 2010 dream draftees, #1

We have selected 5 players that are entering the NFL draft this year, that we would Love to see in a Denver uniform. We would never get all of these players, and if we got only one of them it would be pretty awesome. Here is number one:

Ndamukong Suh DT, University of Nebraska

Suh is widely considered to be one of the best prospects available in the 2010 NFL DraftESPN.com's draft analyst Mel Kiper, Jr. describes Suh as "maybe the most dominating defensive tackle I've seen in 32 years" and projects him to go #1 overall to the St. Louis Rams, Suh is seen as an ideal fit at either defensive tackle in a 4-3 defense or as a defensive end in a 3-4 NFL defense. [Wiki]

Again, this is not a mock draft, this is our #1 player that we'd like the Broncos to draft. It would never happen, unless the Broncos traded up for the first or second pick. Suh is our #1 "Dream Draftee"

Then-Defensive End Elvis Dumervil's 8.5 sacks in 2006 equaled the third-most by a rookie in Broncos' history. His total also was the third-best among NFL rookies that year.

Top 5 Bronco's 2010 dream draftees, #2

We have selected 5 players that are entering the NFL draft this year, that we would Love to see in a Denver uniform. We would never get all of these players, and if we got only one of them it would be pretty awesome. Here is number two:

Rolando McClain, Linebacker - Alabama

McClain has registered 274 tackles during his three-year career with 29.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks, and five interceptions. He declared for the 2010 NFL Draft on January 11 2009, and is considered a 1st round prospect. [Wiki]
McClain would be a perfect fit for the Broncos. He is a good 3-4 LB, and the Broncos could use depth at MLB.

Blogger Blitz part 3 of 4

After the 2009 season, it is obvious the Broncos have some issues to deal with. So I've contacted some other Bronco fan bloggers to get their opinions on the "issues." Today we have Bryan Douglass of BroncosStable, Steve O’Reilly of the Skinny Post, and Garrett Barnes of BroncoMadness. Although it is to early for draft talk, I asked the guys what their "Dream draft" would look like. Here's what the guys think:

Garrett: 1: Rolando McClain, LB, Albama. Getting a defensive end or an Offensive Guard here would be good too, but McClain can play any 3-4 linebacker position and has the most impressive physical skill, of all the linebackers in this years class.

2: Ryan Matthews, RB, Fresno St. I know that drafting a running back this early is weird, but we need somebody who can add a bit more pop to the running game. A set of fresh legs per se.

3. Alex Carrington, DE, Arkansas St. Almost no one has heard of him, but he is the most underrated 5 technique defensive end in the draft. He could contribute immediately and maybe even start in a year or two. McDaniels/Nolan need to take a look at him at the very least!

4. Danario Alexander, WR, Mizzou. Alexander is a talented, big body receiver at 6-5 and over 200 pounds. A lot of pundits have us drafting him in the 3rd round, but it is likely he will slip into the 4th. If we choose to axe Marshall, we should pick him.

6. Vince Oghobasse, DT, Duke. Some projected him as a first rounder earlier this year, but his stock has dropped so low, that unless he is able to make some real noise at the combine, he will be a very late round pick.

7. Reggie Stpehens, OG, Iowa St. He's big, he's raw and could be a good fit for the new power blocking scheme. I doubt he would ever start, but would provide good depth.

Bryan: Since I have Scaife laid into the roster from the free agency prognostication above, I'd hope to see the Broncos addressing the defensive line, the receiving corps, or adding one particular talent of note in the defensive backfield. This year's draft is rich in commodities for the defensive front and I'd happily affirm faith in selections like Gerald McCoy of Oklahoma, Jared Odrick out of Penn State, or Marvin Ustin out of North Carolina (if you go defense in the late rounds). There are some amazing receivers in the draft as well (this position has been flowing great impact players into the league in recent years). Wouldn't complain if the Broncos found a way to wrap their arms around Golden Tate out of Notre Dame, but I think Dezmon Briscoe out of Kansas (NFL size and burst down the sideline) is a serious candidate that could be had late in the process.

I have a personal affinity for Taylor Mays, safety out of USC... I doubt that happens, but he'd be an OUTSTANDING running mate for Dawkins. As an offensive line guy I would also hope to see the Broncos looking at Mike Johnson, offensive guard out of Alabama (one of the more underrated commodities in this year's draft... guards never get their due in this process, and it's a definitive need for Denver).

Steve: Not to be lemming but that is a question that you can't really answer at this time. Free Agency always dictates the Draft. For example, if Denver goes out and signs someone at a certain position than that same position will no longer be a need in the draft.

Instead I will give you the needs that Denver has and if it isn't addressed either via trade or Free Agency than we can target some players in the draft.
1. 5 Technique Defensive End. K. Peterson is serviceable but not spectacular and McBean was invisible in the second half of the season. Denver needs to find a 5 Tech. who can stuff the run and get after the passer. The DE from TCU, Hughes would be a great fit here.
2. Inside Linebacker - A. Davis is a great leader but is getting long in the tooth. I would love to see Rolando McLain taken by the Broncos. He is player!
3. Cornerback - Even though the great Champ Bailey is still playing at a high level and Andre Goodman was very good for Denver the fact remains that they are old. Both are over 30 and we need to start planning for the future. Alphonso Smith will be a good CB in the future and I think it's important to start preparing for that sooner rather than later. I wouldn't use an early pick on that position but if they do Joe Hayden from Florida would be a good choice.
4. Offensive Line (Guards) - Denver needs to beef up the O-Line to employ the running style that McCoy and McDaniels are familiar with and like to use. While in Carolina, McCoy had big Guards, both over 320. As Denver moves away from the Zone Blocking scheme they will need to get players who fit what they are trying to do.
5. Quarteback - In the NFL you have to have the "hard conversations" and one that the Broncos will have this offseason is the same that Shanahan had in 2005. "Can we win a Super Bowl with this guy?" Right now I don't know if Orton is a Super Bowl Caliber QB. He is a good player but not exceptional by any means. It wouldn't surprise me at all if with the 10th pick the Broncos select a signal caller that McDaniels can role with for years to come. If Sam Bradford works out well in the Combine and has recovered from his injury he could move up the charts. Right now I have seem him go somewhere between Mid to late 1st Round.
6. Safety - Same as the Cornerback issue, age! The Broncos have over 30 something Safeties and could really use some youth. Two guys jump out at me, Taylor Mays who is built like a house but runs like a Ferrari and Eric Berry is an awesome football player. Both would be stellar additions.
7. Wide Receiver - This all depends on Brandon Marshall. If he stays it's not a need, if he goes it is. It's that simple.
8. Running Back - Knowshon Moreno will be a special back in the NFL and I am very happy that he was selected by Denver last year. With that said, Denver needs a bruiser. I think we all are very shocked that Peyton Hillis wasn't used in this capacity in 2009 but the fact is he wasn't. He is capable to pick up the short yardage and those yardage situations were a bugaboo for Denver. If a guy like Hardesty from Tennessee or the back from Georgia Tech RB Jonathan Dwyer were to fall to the 3rd round I would pounce on them in a heartbeat. Paired with Moreno either would be a great 1-2 Punch for years to come.
My Take: Rolando McClain and Taylor Mays are obvious favorites. It's clear McDaniels should address the defensive side of the ball, but I'm not sure he will, given his draft history.

This is part three of a four part series so check back for more! The Zone thanks the guys for their time, they are all great guys and have great sites be sure to check 'em out!

Top 5 Bronco's 2010 dream draftees, #3

We have selected 5 players that are entering the NFL draft this year, that we would Love to see in a Denver uniform. We would never get all of these players, and if we got only one of them it would be pretty awesome. Here is number three:

Taylor Mays, Safety USC

Frequently drawing comparisons to Adrian Wilson for his size, and Sean Taylor for his hitting ability, Mays is considered one of the top talents for the 2010 NFL Draft. [Wiki]
Taylor is the best safety I've ever seen coming into a draft. He is amazing, period. He is built like a linebacker, with speed like a running back. He would bring a ton of energy to the Broncos defense. The Broncos need to face the facts, Brian Dawkins is one of the best, but he won't be around for any more than 2-3 years, and everybody slows down. Denver needs to address the safety position, Mays would be perfect.

Celebrating 50 Years Of Broncos Football, Fact #47

Champ Bailey will go down in Broncos history as the greatest cornerback to ever play for the club. He is a shoo-in for the Hall Of Fame as well. In Canton Ohio he'll be enshrined into the HOF as "Champ Bailey". This is nothing new, so what's the catch? His real name: Roland Bailey. Another Bronco that may end up the Broncos Ring of fame, D.J. Williams. His real name: Genos Derwin Williams, Jr. Just some fun facts I thought you might enjoy. Have a good week Bronco fans.

We have selected 5 players that are entering the NFL draft this year, that we would Love to see in a Denver uniform. We would never get all of these players, and if we got only one of them it would be pretty awesome. Here is number four:

Mike Iupati Guard -- Idaho Vandals

Iupati is considered one of the best offensive guard prospects available in the 2010 NFL Draft. According to several scouts he projects as a late first or early second round selection. The Sporting News′ Russ Lande reported that "nearly every scout who has evaluated Iupati on film says he has the footwork and athleticism to be an NFL left tackle. Iupati will be playing in the Senior Bowl next week, so be sure to watch the game while watching for Mike.Wikipedia contributed to this post.

Top 5 Bronco's 2010 dream draftees, #5

We have selected 5 players that are entering the NFL draft this year, that we would Love to see in a Denver uniform. We would never get all of these players, and if we got only one of them it would be pretty awesome. Here is number five:

Ryan Matthews - RB - Fresno State

Ryan Matthews is taking college football by storm this year by going from backup to Heisman Trophy candidate in one year. NFL scouts are also noticing him. I have my doubts about him because he’s only been doing this for one year, but that didn’t stop Rashard Mendenhall and Donald Brown from shooting into the first round in each of the last two respective years and Matthews could also go in the first round this year, if he decides to declare, which I believe he will because of the threat of a rookie salary cap in 2011. I think he has a lot of upside and I am giving him a 2nd round grade for now just to be reserved on him because of his lack of experience. [The Football Fan

Celebrating 50 Years of Bronco Football, Fact #45

When Tony Scheffler blocked a punt against San Diego in week 5 of 2007, it marked the 10th consecutive season that the Broncos had swatted away at least 1 opposing kick (filed goal, extra point, or punt).

That was fast, Nolan headed to Miami

The Miami Dolphins and Mike Nolan have agreed on a deal, making Nolan Miami's new Defensive coordinator. The Broncos meanwhile are still in search of a new DC. Nolan has been one of the most successful defensive coordinators in resent years, coaching Baltimore (2002-04), the New York Jets (2000), Washington (1997-99) New York Giants (1993-96), and Denver last year. This clears things up as to why he unexpectedly stepped down. Nolan is a huge hole the Broncos will have to fill, while the Dolphins are getting a great one. The Broncos' next DC will be their 5th in 5 years. Best of luck to Nolan down south.

So what Happened with Nolan?

This morning I wrote my first ever post on SB Nation (probably won't be my last). Be sure to go check it out, it sheds some light on why Mike Nolan left Denver. >> Trying to make sense of what doesn't make sense -- Mike Nolan

Hey Rookie!

The goal of every NFL Football team is to get to, and win the Super Bowl. It is not an NFL's team goal to have good regular season stats, and have a great Rookie that makes the Pro Bowl. If I'm mistaken please tell me. The Minnasota Vikings' Percy Harvin is the Rookie of the Year, but he hasn't really helped out in the playoffs yet. While 4 of the 5 players up for the Diet Pepsi ROY over at NFL.com are not even in the playoffs. In my opinion a great Rookie is not a player who puts up good numbers early in the season then tanks late in the year (e.g. Knowshon Moreno or Michael Oher). So I'm going to share with you my three best rookies of 2009. The rules; Must be contributing in the playoffs, and cannot have won any Rookie awards. Here they are! In the 2009 regular season the Vikings Right Tackel Phil Loadholt started 15 games as a rookie, allowing 6 sacks (compare to Ryan Clady's 6.5 or Michael Oher's 8). While protecting Favre who threw 34 touchdowns, and blocking for Adrian Peterson who rushed for 1,383 yards and 18 touchdowns. Yet this is probably the first time you've heard his name. He is one of the three.

While 3rd on the Colts WR depth chart in 2009, Austin Collie caught 60 passes for 676 yards and 7 touchdowns. He was a huge part of the Colt's offense. As a rookie Jerry Rice caught 3 touchdowns, Percy Harvin caught 6. Austin is a perfect fit for the Colts offense, and is helping in the Colt's passing game. One would think Collie is a obvious ROY candidate, he made our list.

Shonn Greene rushed for 540 yards and scored 2 touchdowns in 2009, while starting in no games. His numbers are not huge, but he made the list because he has really helped the Jets down the stretch and leads all 'backs in rushing yards this post-season. Greene has a bright future ahead of him.

Breaking News: Nolan is out

In a very unexpected turn of events the Broncos' Defensive Cordinator Mike Nolan is announcing he is resigning! IMHO this is bogas! Our defense improved more than anything else last year! More to come. The DenverPost reports:

Broncos defensive coordinator Mike Nolan resigned after meeting Monday with head coach Josh McDaniels."I can’t say anything other than Josh and I mutually agreed to part ways," Nolan said.

Blogger Blitz part 2 of 4

After the 2009 season, it is obvious the Broncos have some issues to deal with. So I've contacted some other Bronco fan bloggers to get their opinions on the "issues." Today we have Bryan Douglass of BroncosStable, Steve O’Reilly of the Skinny Post, Ian Henson of The Orange Page, and Garrett Barnes of BroncoMadness. I mentioned to the guys that Shanahan was known for always have a fantastic rushing attack, but that recently the Broncos haven't had a great one. I made the mistake of saying we had a "Bad" rushing game, here's what the guys think:

Garrett: I wouldn't say we had a bad rushing game this year first of all. Average, maybe. Mediocre, probably. But it wasn't really "bad". Knowshon Moreno is great, but has hit the so called "rookie wall", something that a lot of rookies do. We should obviously keep him, because he has shown signs of being an all pro at times this season.
So while a lot of people throw the blame on him and the running backs, it's really the blocking. I don't fall for this whole: The Broncos are a magical team who drafts running backs and turns them into stars with Bobby Turners magic wand. You can be the worst running back in the world, but if you are on the Broncos, you can run for a 1,000 yards. That's a bit of an exaggeration, but what's really been helping these running backs, is the consistent blocking.
We've lost that blocking, so we need to get better Offensive Guards to create holes, and train the players that are here to fit the power blocking system. I would also advise McDaniels to get a more explosive running back, like Ryan Mathews in the draft, but the first thing we need to do, is improve the offensive line, and our backs will succeed.
Ian: When the new Josh McDaniels regime signed Correll Buckhalter and J.J. Arrington in the offseason prior to drafting Knowshon Moreno Broncos fans should have seen that there was something completely new in store. Obvious backs that they'll keep: Moreno and Buckhalter. To me Peyton Hillis is a save as well, not because he's a fan favorite, but because he fits in more with what's next for Denver. Out is the zone blocking scheme and in is a power running game...
To most Broncos fans this means that we won't see anymore ten, twenty-yard breaks... No more hundred years games, no more Clinton Portis, no more Olandis Gary, Mike Anderson... Like that's a bad thing. Can't remember the last time one of those thousand yarders got us to a super bowl. Thing is Denver's been known for awhile as a great running team, people associate running with ball control and there in lies the problem. Ball control is only as good as your worst defense. Take a look at the Broncos last four seasons- running great, defense bad = no playoffs.
For all the genius Mike Shanahan was worth, Larry Coyer is still quietly leading the Indianapolis Colts to the Super Bowl this season. To get back to the offensive power house that Denver once was they need only to simply follow what the cards are dealing them. The New England Patriots guard Logan Mankins is as good as a Bronco if he doesn't get resigned by the Patriots. Then the Broncos have often injured Ryan Harris and All Pro Ryan Clady at tackle, Russ Hochstein swelling up the other guard position and Casey Weigmann for one more year at center... That to me is a super decent line (with two All Pros and two more Pro Bowl caliber players). You look at the fact that the Broncos could bring back Chris Kuper at right guard or that they could possibly draft someone in the second, third or fourth round at right guard and I feel like the conversion has been completed. Gone is the zone blocking scheme and hello to the McDaniels blocking thing (an official title the networks will run with in 2010).
Here's what really concerns me though, LaDainian Tomlinson... He's going to be let go, he wants to play for the Broncos, he wants to... We've got LaMont Jordan already... In a year when Ricky Williams, Darren Sproles, Leon Washington, Willie Parker, Chester Taylor, Carnell Williams and Kevin Faulk are all Free Agents... Can we afford to not sign one of them?
Bryan: At the risk of being offensive or viewed as combative, I'm going to take exception to the assertion the Broncos had "a bad rushing attack." This is a group (a) led by a rookie (granted, a top draft pick, a supreme talent, but still... he's a rookie), (b) that lost not one (Ben Hamilton), not two (Ryan Harris), but three (Russ Hochstein) starting guards during the season, (c) that was in the midst of their first season in a new system with new coaching and new schemes (again, led by a rookie learning his first professional playbook), and (d) that still managed to get Correll Buckhalter 642 yards on the ground on just 120 carries (he would have gotten more if injuries weren't his career trademark). Ranking 18th in the NFL in rushing is average under normal circumstance, and when you consider the Broncos ranked among the top 10 in passing attempts (i.e. they didn't run as often as in years past), it's fair to at least give the crew a C+. That's not "bad"... it's just not satisfying.
To be honest, I'm not sure McDaniels wants to lead the league in rushing. The evolution of the league is towards increased passing. He wants the bulk of this team's yards earned via the pass and I believe we'll see the offensive line and the commodities in the receiving corps transformed to fit that plan (that's why Ben Hamilton wasn't working out this year). While he comes from Belichick I would suggest Josh's desires, at least from the team I'm watching today, are more in line with the offense of Andy Reid.
The entire crew stays except Hillis. McDaniels is more likely to bring in Lorenzo Neal, or a Lorenzo Neal clone, at a discount than to let an offensive fullback like Hillis cloud the picture... and that may actually be LaMont Jordan at this point. And they won't be designed to be "great" so much as "explosive" or "formative."

Steve: The answer to this question is two-fold. 1. The O-Line wasn't built for the scheme that they ran. The line was built for the Zone Blocking Scheme but mostly ran a Pulling Guard, Trap scheme that is commonly known as Smashmouth football. As the season unwound we saw Ben Hamilton replaced by the bigger Guard in Hochstein. When you ask a Lineman to attack a Defensive Tackle head on, he better be a mauler. The loss of Ryan Harris hurt as well, who is the big run blocking type of lineman. NFL offenses are "Right Handed" meaning they like to run to the right. NFL coaches put their best running Lineman at the Right Guard and Tackle spot for that reason. Many times this year however, Denver ran Left. That shows you that the RG and RT were not getting it done and it tells you that Ryan Clady is just a beast who can do it all. Denver needs to beef up in order to run the scheme they want to run.2. They need to open up the offense more. How many times this year did you see a Safety make a tackle at or near the Line of Scrimmage? Remember the Ed Reed hit on Moreno to force a fumble? Remember Tyvon Branch for Oakland consistently make tackles behind the line? If the defense feels that they can cheat and stack the box than you have to make them pay by going up top. Denver never did that and often times you would see either the Guard getting blown back into the RB's face or you say the Safety come up and shoot the gaps. To fix it, you need to use all the tools in the shed. Going deep occasionally is vital, even if you don't get the big play you at least keep the Defense honest!

My Take: The Broncos' Zone Blocking Scheme is as good as out the window. And you can probably forget your dreams of having a Pro Bowl running back in McDaniel's era. Look for the Broncos to beef up the offensive line, and have a balanced - not necessary explosive rushing attack in 2010.
This is part two of a four part series so check back for more! The Zone thanks the guys for their time, they are all great guys and have great sites be sure to check 'em out!

Celebrating 50 Years of Bronco Football, Fact #44

The Denver Broncos scored more points, ran for more yards, and amassed more total yards than any other team in the NFL from 1995 - Mike Shanahan's first year as head coach - through 2006.

We were originally going to do 50 fun facts throughout the Broncos 50th season, but we fell behind, and the Broncos didn't make the playoffs. We only made it to about 39 facts, so over the next few days we'll be catching up.

Broncos looking at a RB coach

Broncos coach Josh McDaniels has formally asked permission from the Buffalo Bills to interview their running game coordinator/running backs coach Eric Studesville. Reports the Denver Post. Now the Bills have fired all of their coaches, but they are still under contract, so yes McDaniels does have to "ask". Among Studesville's 1,000-yard backs are; Tiki Barber, Willis McGahee, Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson. The Broncos are in need of a 'backs coach after Bobby Turner left for Washington D.C.

This seems kinda like McDaniel's kind of guy. In Buffalo he used Big offensive linemen - which are right up Josh's alley. Last season the Bills used a Bronco type Zone Blocking Scheme, but with no success. After that they switched to a more Power type running game, the kind MCD seems to like.

Bad predictions

Every year, for about the past 5 years the San Diego Chargers have been predicted Super Bowl favorites before football season even starts. Now if you consider that they have lost in the playoffs the past five years, one wonders why the Chargers are always "Super Bowl favorites". A team you could compare to the Chargers is the Cowboys. Or even better - compare Tony Romo to Philip Rivers. Both are great quarterbacks, both post big regular season numbers, and both choke in the post season. Tony Romo is about as good as David Carr when it comes crunch time. So my question is, if the Chargers are so good, why haven't they made it to the big one yet? And is Romo's time in Dallas up? What do you think?

Congrats to the Vikings and Jets on their wins today, and of course I'm bias, I'm a Bronco fan what did you expect?

Javon Walker to testify against Willie D. Clark

DENVER (AP)—The trial of the man accused of killing Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams is on track to begin next month with at least one former teammate scheduled to testify. Willie Clark is charged with first-degree murder in a drive-by shooting. Clark and Williams were both seen in a night club with their clicks exchanging taunts on New Year's Eve 2007. Early that morning Williams was shot dead while driving in a limo accompanied by Javon Walker.

Clark has said he was not involved in the murder, but the judge in the case says Javon Walker has been subpoenaed to testify in the case against Clark.

The Broncos will play in London in 2010

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The NFL will announce that the Broncos will travel to London on Sunday, Oct. 31, to face the San Francisco 49ers as a part of the NFL's International Series.

"The Denver Broncos are honored to play in London against the 49ers as part of the NFL's International Series," Broncos President and CEO Pat Bowlen said. "Our organization has been fortunate to play in several American Bowls in previous years, including one in London, but to play a regular-season game overseas is truly special."

The game will be broadcast on CBS at 11 a.m MST (5 p.m. UK) on Halloween day. The Broncos will be the "Away" team so the club will still have 8 games @ Invesco in 2010.

This is really cool, I'm very excited and looking forward to it! Here are some highlights from the last game in London:

Celebrating 50 Years Of Bronco Football, Fact #43

The season is over, but we were originally going to do 50 facts throughout the Broncos 50th season. So over the next few days we'll be catching up. Hope you all enjoy them.
Back in 2006, former Bronco rookie running back Mike Bell scored 8 rushing touchdowns. That equaled the second-most ever by an undrafted rookie since the AFL and NFL joined for a common draft in 1967. Bell has since moved on from the Broncos and is having a good year with the Saints. The Zone wishes him best of luck in the playoffs.

Around the NFL: Clady and Doom make 1st Team All Pro

The Broncos' Elvis Dumervil and Ryan Clady made the AP All Pro team as first team players, while Brian Dawkins made the second team. Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post has a case for why Champ Bailey should have made the All Pro Team. Read it here. There is of course controversy about the players who did and didn't make the cut, but everyone agrees Chris Johnson deserved it. In AFC West news, the Chiefs have named Romeo Crennel Defensive Coordinator. The Raiders' Willie Brown, a Hall of Fame cornerback, is retiring from the coaching staff. Over at ESPN's AFC West blog, Bill Willimson thinks the Broncos may go after Randy Moss, especially considering Brandon Marshall may not be a Bronco next year.

In other Bronco news, running backs coach Bobby Turner, who has been with the Broncos since 1995, has accepted an offer with the Washington Redskins.

Also, I'm sure you heard about the horrible earth quake in Haiti, Elvis Dumervil has some tips how to help Haiti victims. Watch the Elvis Dumervil interview on youtube here.
Hope you all have a great weekend, I'll try to get back to writing some stuff myself, I've been busy.

Celebrating 50 Years Of Bronco Football, Fact #42

The season is over, but we were originally going to do 50 facts throughout the Broncos 50th season. So over the next few days we'll be catching up. Hope you all enjoy them.
Former Denver Broncos kicker Jason Elam has scored more points for the club than any other player in the history of the franchise.

Breaking News, Dennison leaving Broncos

The Broncos' offensive line coach Rick Dennison has decided to leave Denver to become Gary Kubiak's offensive coordinator in Houston. Reports the Denver Post.
"I am very excited about (calling plays), it's something that's going to be a big challenge certainly," Dennison said. "I'm not saying it's a drop in a bucket by any stretch of the imagination, but it's something that I've hope to do, and it will make me grow, make me stretch."
The Broncos will miss Dennison, we wish him best of luck with the Texans.

Remeber the 1990's?

It is nearly mid-week, and if you are like me you'll do anything to get to the weekend. Maybe you could use a laugh? (Warning this may not be humorous to fans of the '90s.) Remember the style of the late '80s-early '90s? If you are having trouble bringing back that time period to your mind, Chris Collinsworth of NBC and Chargers' back LT can you refresh your memory.
As you can imagine those videos brought a wide verity of comments on youtube. Most of the comments on the Collinsworth video are not appropriate, but here are some from the LT Dance video: Craigipedia: is it a normal reaction to want to kill yourself and/or be killed upon watching this video?

Reliving the Glory: Brandon Marshall

The 2009 season may have been Brandon Marshall's last season as a Bronco. If it was he ended his stint on a positive note, catching 101 catches for over 1,000 yards and 10 Touchdowns. We all are hoping to see Brandon playing for Denver in 2010. Enjoy.
