Jabar Gaffney Traded to Washington for Jeremy Jarmon

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that Broncos WR Jabar Gaffney has been traded to the Washington Redskins in exchange for Defensive End Jeremy Jarmon. This comes as a surprise as Jabar Gaffney was not known to be on the trade block.

Soon after this report was filed, John Elway confirmed the trade via Twitter:
@johnelway: We have acquired DT Jeremy Jarmon from Washington in exchange for WR Jabar Gaffney.
He followed this up by saying:
@johnelway: Jeremy is an athletic defensive lineman with great versatility. We are looking forward to having him as Bronco.
Jarmon played defensive end in Washington after being acquired in the 2009 supplemental draft. I expect him to transition to the Defensive Tackle position in Fox's 4-3, as he has the versatility, and size to play either.

Overall this seems like a rock solid trade. With Brandon Lloyd, Demaryius Thomas, Eddie Royal and Eric Decker, there really wasn't any room for Gaffney. Even if Jarmon is only a rotational defensive lineman, this is still a solid acquisition.

It also represents a positive salary cap move. Gaffney was due to be paid $2.4 million dollars, vs Jarmon who comes at a small price.
