After failing his physical on Thursday, the Denver Broncos placed wide receiver Demaryius Thomas on the Non-Football-Related injury list. The move allows Denver keep Thomas on the 90-man training camp roster.
Thomas cannot practice with the team until he can pass his physical, which may not be for another few months. Denver is hopeful that Thomas, who tore his Achilles tendon in February while working out, will be back by Thanksgiving.
If all goes well, Thomas could return by mid-season. If his recovery has any set backs, Thomas may have to be placed on the physically-unable-to-perform (PUB) list and eventually on injured reserve (IR). Placing Thomas on the PUB list at the start of the season will give Denver six weeks to either add Thomas to the active roster or place on him IR, effectively ending his season before it even began.
Here's hoping Thomas is able to bounce back and get back on the field soon, he showed great potential as a rookie last season.
